My Europe Trip-Neuschwanstein
June 14
The next day we left Kitzbuhel and Austria to return to Germany. We stopped in a small town called Hohschwengau and took a tour of a very interesting Castle called Neuschwanstein. The outside of this castle was featured in the Movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We then continued on our way to Munich, our final destination.

After the bike tour, we had a quick lunch and left Salzburg for Kitzbuhel, a small mountain ski town in the Alps. Aftef arriving, we checked into our hotel, a cute small mountain lodge. My dad and I then went up the gondola, and took some beautiful photos with my Nikon D40; these and all the other photos from my europe trip will soon be up on my .Mac (soon to be MobileMe) web gallery at http://gallery.mac.com/connorpj1
After coming back down, we walked around town for a little while, then went to dinner. Our waitress told us that the town had a traditional Austrian Band, that dressed in Liderhosen, and their first concert was tonight outside in the square. We went and listened to the concert, however my sister and I left after three songs, because we weren’t huge fans of the music. I’ll have photos of them up too.

We said goodbye to the fantastic Hotel Bristol, and drove to Salzburg. After checking in, we walked over the river (which was flowing very fast and VERY HIGH) into old town, and walked around for awhile. After lunch we took the “funicular” (a small train that goes up and down a hill, they have one in Wellington, NZ, and Pittsburgh, PA) up to the Salzburg castle, and took a tour, with beautiful views of Salzburg. We then headed back to the hotel, then headed once more over to old town for another delicious Austrian dinner.
The next morning we woke to rain. After a quick breakfast, we headed over to the meeting place of Fraulien Maria’s Sound of Music Bike Tour, a fantastic tour of all the places in Salzburg that appear in the movie.
