Connor P on Hiatus

April 27th, 2008 | Category: Blogging, Life

Hello all.

Just wanted to drop a little note here in the feed to say that I will not be able to blog for the next while, due to the fact that I am very very busy at school right now. I have several projects for Biology, World History, English, and a large test in Algebra coming up, and I really would like to focus on my schoolwork right now. I promise that in a week or two, I will come back with a new post, and an important announcement. Thanks so much, and stay subscribed. If you want to keep up on what I’m doing, go up to the top of the page, click: Get in Touch, and follow me on Twitter, talk to me on iChat or Skype, or drop me an email!

Microsoft Hates Mac Users!!!!

April 14th, 2008 | Category: Rant, Tech

[RANT]

I know this sounds very obvious, but there is one reason that supports my point. What do you think is the most pravolent browser rendering engine on the Mac? Thats right, Webkit, aka Safari. This is very obvious because most mac users don’t bother to go download Firefox or another browser. However, http://www.mactopia.com/ the website of Microsoft’s mac products, such as Office 2008 for Mac, doesn’t render properly in Webkit! It looks fine in Firefox and IE 7, but not Safari!!! What the heck! Why would they not make sure that the browser that would be rendering the page the most would render correctly!!! I mean come on! Most mac users dont use Firefox, and IE isn’t even available for OS X anymore. Why the heck would anyone on Windows on IE want to go to the Mac Page. C’mon Microsoft, if you keep doing stupid stuff like this, more and more people will be going to iWork or NeoOffice.

Okay you guys get a little bonus content today, because i have another smaller rant. I have iWork, and I love it. It does 99.99999999999999% of all that i need it to do. However, there were two very important things I need done that it cannot do. The first is Avery label templates, the second is an ANOVA. ANOVA stands for ANalysis Of VAriance, which is a statistical analysis that compares the varitation between groups as compared to the difference within groups. BTW if you know how to do either of these things in iWork, please email me! Go to the top of the page, and click get in touch. Then send me an email. Anyway, I go out and buy Office 2008 for mac home edition cuz i really need these functions. The avery labels work perfectly. However, the ANOVA required an Office add-in, but since it was so new, the add in wasnt available yet. What the Heck!!!! [UPDATE] I have since found out that not only was it too new to have plugins, but it turns out that in Office 2008 Microsoft has completely removed Add ins. The Add ins menu is still there, but you will never be able to get any add ins! It was the most important thing i had to do, and spent $250 on it!! I ended up doing it on an XP machine running office 2003 at school. Ok rant over.
